When I was a kid, I had to get a certain number of volunteer hours each semester in school. I found myself packing shoeboxes for one of my service opportunities for Operation Christmas Child and loved it! It would be a great family volunteer opportunity if you’re looking for a way to give back this holiday season.
The premise is that you pack a shoebox with donated essentials, gifts, and a nice letter for kids who are less fortunate.
I spoke with Lisa Sims from the Atlanta chapter of Operation Christmas Child about what all they need this holiday season, and while the donation window has passed, you can donate an online box for $25 or volunteer to help pack boxes at one of their local packing centers.
You can hear the full interview from yesterday’s B in the Community segment at b985.com/community.
