Morgan Wallen’s former high school pays him the ultimate tribute

Morgan Wallen’s former high school is honoring him in a special way!

Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee, is renaming its baseball field Morgan Wallen Field.

The school’s current principal suggested the idea to district officials last fall, and it was approved on Friday (March 7).

Morgan Wallen was part of the school’s 2010 State Championship baseball team and graduated in 2011. However, an injury cut his baseball dreams short. Wallen tore his UCL, a ligament in his elbow. He had Tommy John surgery and was unable to play defense his senior year. His days as an infielder were over, meaning his college baseball dreams were, too.

Of course, he went on to become a successful country singer and has generously donated to various school programs.

“He’s been a positive promoter of Gibbs and has given back throughout his time after high school,” says Principal Jason Webster.

“We’re thankful for the things that he does, not just for Gibbs high school, but Knox County schools and the community at large. He’s a very giving person and we’re excited to do this for him.”

He’s not the only famous alumni of Gibbs. Kenny Chesney and Singer-songwriter Ashley Monroe also attended Gibbs.
