Athens, Ga- The heavy rains that came theough Athens on Thursday night claimed an unlikely victim: the entertainment enjoyed at Showtime Bowl on Macon Highway.

The establishment known for its bowling alleys and game room fun suffered a partial roof collapse around 10 o'clock last night as a cell of heavy rain hoovered over the Athens area. Severe water damage occured on the bowling lanes as well as pool tables and other parts of the game room.

General Manager Carol Snell told the Athens Banner-Herald that she expects rebuilding to close Showtime Bowl for at least six months.
