Actress Gal Gadot revealed on social media that she underwent emergency surgery for a “massive” blot clot in her brain during the eighth month of her last pregnancy.

The “Wonder Woman” star, 39, wrote on Instagram and X that she was diagnosed with a blood clot in February 2024.

“For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth,” the Israeli-born actress wrote on Sunday. “In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.”

Gadot had the surgery at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear,” she wrote in her social media post, which showed the actress in a hospital gown breastfeeding her daughter, CNN reported.

Ori is the fourth daughter born to Gadot and Jaron Varsano, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She wrote in her Instagram post that Ori means “my light” and was not chosen by chance.

“Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel,” Gadot wrote. “Thanks to an extraordinary team of doctors at @cedarssinai and weeks of dedicated care, I made it through and began the road to recovery.”

According to Johns Hopkins University a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis is a blood clot in the brain’s venous sinuses that prevents blood in the brain from draining, The Times of Israel reported.

“This can lead to swelling and bleeding (hemorrhage) in the brain,” the hospital wrote on its website.
